Jesus cared for the sick, curing those who were ill or disabled. When the Church cares for the sick, it serves Christ Himself in the suffering members of His Mystical Body. The Church teaches that the Anointing of the Sick makes a person stronger in body and spirit.
By Christ’s sacrifice of Himself, He took hold of suffering and death and eliminated their power to separate us from each other or from God. Our faith teaches us that God suffers with us. Through Jesus' suffering and death, God joins His suffering to the suffering of human beings. And by doing this, He transforms and gives it a new meaning.
This sacrament is not just for those in danger of death. Anyone who suffers from serious or chronic physical or emotional illness, or who struggles with the infirmities of age can receive the Anointing of the Sick.
Father offers the Sacrament the first Friday of the month following morning Mass. Also, if one if preparing for surgery, please contact Father Leonard Mukiibi at 573-477-3315 to be anointed.
