2022 Cemetery Association Committee:

Ron Meyer, Vice President
Norma Jean Libbert, Secretary
Karyn Veltrop, Treasurer
Parish Council Liaison, Dorothy Rehagen
An annual meeting for the entire membership of the Cemetery Association shall be held in March of each year for the purpose of nominating and electing a committee member, and conducting any other business. Notice of the meeting shall be made through the Parish bulletin.
History:
St. Cecilia Catholic Cemetery dates back to 1904 with the donation of the land by Joseph and Anna Finke. The first burial was a 2-month old infant in October, 1904.
The St. Cecilia Parish Cemetery Association was originally organized at a special meeting of the Men’s Sodality of St. Cecilia Parish on March 16, 1930. By-laws were written at that time and are subsequently reviewed in March at the annual meeting of the Association. A Perpetual Care Fund was set aside within the Cemetery Association, the interest of which is designated for maintenance and care of the cemetery. An annual assessment is collected from each parish member between the ages of 21 and 75 in May to replenish the fund. Additional donations are greatly appreciated for the Perpetual Care of the Cemetery.
Any member of the St. Cecilia Parish is automatically a “member” of the Cemetery Association. Members who leave the Parish can continue paying the yearly assessment, but their status changes to “Former Parish Member.” “Non-members,” those who have never been members of the St. Cecilia Parish may also purchase gravesites.
In the early years, as was the practice in many cemeteries, adults were buried in chronological order of their deaths. In later year, family plots were established. Infants were buried in rows X, Y, and Z. The cemetery is arranged with rows A through Z, running west to east and plot numbers running in ascending order south to north. The Cemetery Association is in the process of updating the mapping system. A new plot may will be displayed at the entrance of the cemetery upon completion.
The Crucifixion Statue (as pictured on this site) was erected in 1942. Other donated memorials have been added to the cemetery throughout the years.
